Monday Teen Contemporary Modern Ballet & EarthWays Yoga, 4:30-6:00pm
I direct my bones through space
I listen to the transfer of my own weight
I use the form of ballet to create my lines and precision
and then I break it
against the wild imaginative movement of the creature.
I practice, I sweat, I do it again and again, I play
I expand my location in space everywhere
I am a dancer.Dancers will learn the forms and vocabulary of Ballet III and Ballet IV supported by creative practices, improvisation, innate qualities of human movement and communing. They embody the etiquette of the dance form and learn to both directly learn choreography and how to be contributor to the artistic work that is created. Dancers will informally share class work and dance pieces with parents and friends at the end of each 9-week session.

Tuesday Beginners Tap Class 8yrs-Adult 4:30-5:30pm
I am music in my feet.
I warm my body and focus on the sound my feet can make.
Toe, heel, brush flap…simple, repetitive, slow, rhythmic.
I combine steps and syncopate: flap-heel-heel, brush-ball change.
Sounds combine to make steps and steps combine to make a routine.
I listen to the rhythm and time feeling what comes next.
I am aware of myself and those dancing around me.
We move together.
I challenge, I express, I have dancing feet.
I am music.
A fun introduction to tap dance! Making noise with your feet -- at any age-- is irresistible! We will combine sounds into steps, steps into sequences, and sequences into routines. This holistic course will emphasize rhythm, improvisation, and tap history, training both coordination and creativity.

The Student Ensemble
We are the select ones, those that must dance
We span the ages 8-18
We set on voyage each year our story is the vessel
We discover new territories in literature, poetry, history, music, textiles and dance
We listen, we conjure, we refine, we become
We are the artists, technicians, musicians, performers and above all, the players
Our dance theater productions are mix of quick witted dance choreography, high fashion and
grand storytelling.We are the dreamers.
The dancers are all contributors and collaborators, moving well past rote skills and embodying the process of an artist. Casting is pedagogical, meaning the children are given roles so they can both grow as artists and human beings. Every year we create an original dance theater production based on classic children’s literature. We read the book aloud in its entirety as part of our rehearsal process. Dancer considered for this group must be open to the process and have the family support to pursue the time and commitment to the group. Along with attending technical classes weekly, dancers are required to attend all rehearsals.
